A report on obesity published by the House of Commons Health Committee tells us:
- The cost to the nation of physical inactivity and of tackling obesity is estimated
to be £10.7 billion.
- The number of people classed as 'obese' is projected to rise to one in four by 2010.
- An increase in sedentary occupations has been identified as a major factor
contributing to lower activity levels compared to previous generations.
- At present only 31% of adults are sufficiently active to feel health benefits.
Research by The Eating Disorders Association shows:
- An estimated 1.15 million men and women in the UK suffer from an eating
disorder.
Foundations is an organisation that incorporates medical models and goes beyond
these models in promoting well-being.
